We use Showpony hair extensions, an ethically sourced, premium line made from 100% Remy A+ human hair with the cuticle intact and aligned. That means the hair moves, shines, and styles like your own. Showpony offers a range of methods, and our certified extension stylists are trained to match the right one to your hair type, lifestyle, and goals.
Hair extension services are available at all three Bella Trio locations: Bella Trio Salon and Spa at Sutton Station in Durham, Bella Trio Studio at American Tobacco Campus in Downtown Durham, and Bella Terra Salon in Hillsborough.
The Consultation
Every extensions service at Bella Trio begins with a consultation. This is where your stylist assesses your natural hair, discusses your goals, and recommends the best method, length, and color for your desired result.
During the consultation, your stylist will consider your hair type, density, and current condition to make sure extensions are a healthy choice for your hair. They will also walk you through the maintenance schedule, care routine, and realistic expectations so there are no surprises.
If you are new to extensions or unsure which method is right for you, the consultation is the place to start. There is no pressure to commit during that visit. It is a conversation, not a sales pitch.
Care and Maintenance
How long your extensions last depends on the method, your hair type, and how well you care for them. Here is what to expect:
Classic Tape-In and Skin Weft Tape-In Extensions Maintenance every 6 to 8 weeks. Extensions are removed, retaped, and reapplied. With proper care, the hair can be reused for multiple applications.
Hand-Tied Undetectable Beaded Extensions and Tape-In Weft Extensions Maintenance every 6 to 8 weeks. Your stylist will adjust the placement as your natural hair grows. Regular maintenance keeps the extensions secure and comfortable.
General Care Tips Use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. Brush gently from the ends up using a soft bristle or loop brush. Avoid applying heavy conditioner or oils directly to the bonds, tapes, or beads. Tie hair in a loose braid or ponytail before sleeping. Your stylist will give you a full care guide at your appointment and can recommend Showpony's extension-specific care products.

The go-to extension method for the guest looking for some volume and length. Our most budget-friendly and timely extension service. Classic tape-ins are applied using thin, adhesive panels that sit flat against the scalp for a comfortable, low-profile fit. Maintenance appointments are typically needed every 6 to 8 weeks.
Skin Weft Undetectable Tape-In Extensions
All the benefits of the classic tape-in, but better. These premium level tape-ins are ultra-thin, with an invisible skin-like tape bond for maximum comfort. Skin wefts are especially ideal for guests with fine or thin hair who want the most discreet, undetectable finish possible.
Tape-In Weft Extensions
The tape-in meets the weft. Tape-in wefts that are lightweight, undetectable, and damage-free. With a rapid installation time, these are for the guest who desires volume, length, and versatility. This method combines the ease of tape-in application with the fullness of a weft for a best-of-both result.
Textured Extensions
For guests with naturally textured hair, we offer customized tape-ins and hand-tied wefts designed to match your curl pattern and density. Can I color or heat style my extensions?
Showpony extensions are made from 100% Remy human hair and can be heat styled. Coloring is more limited. If color adjustments are needed, your stylist can help during a salon appointment. We do not recommend coloring extensions at home, and developer stronger than 10 volume should never be used. Your stylist will discuss color matching during the consultation to minimize the need for any processing.
How do I care for my extensions between appointments?
Use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. Brush gently from the ends up with a soft bristle or loop brush. Avoid heavy products near the bonds, tapes, or beads. Sleep with your hair in a loose braid.
