Reflexology at Home

I don’t know about you but I could really use a massage. I feel like it would really relieve some stress. I reached out to my good buddy and co-worker Kristin Vargo on some stress-relieving home massage techniques. She has a great reflexology tutorial. Just in case you are curious about what reflexology is you can check out this information on Healthline In the article it says reflexology is linked to reduce stress and anxiety, reduce pain, lift mood, and improve general well-being. Well, that’s good enough for me, I am going to put this tutorial to use.

Reflexology Points

These points target areas affected by stress, as well as the respiratory system which is most impacted by covid-19. This simple sequence should take less than 10 minutes. There is a high concentration of nerve endings on the soles of the feet, so this should be deeply relaxing. Check-in with your quarantine buddy about pressure, this should not hurt. (This is not intended to cure, diagnose or prevent you from contracting covid-19.)

1. Solar Plexus

Start with a deep breath.  If working on another person ask them to do the same.  Press in and hold for 3-5 seconds.  Repeat 3x’s.

2. Pituitary/Hypothalamus

Begin with the R foot.  Press in and hold for 3-5 seconds. Repeat 3x’s.  Press in and do circular rotations with the thumb for 3-5 seconds. Repeat 3x’s. Switch and repeat on L foot on both points.

3. Lungs

Begin with the R foot.  Stretch and spread the padded area 3-5 times.  Then do circular rotations with the thumb all around 3-5 times.  Switch and repeat on the L foot.

4. Stomach

Press and hold for 3-5 seconds. Repeat 3x’s.  Press in and do circular rotations 3-5 seconds.  Repeat 3x’s.

5. Intestines

LARGE: Begin with the R foot. Thumb walk up the ascending colon 3x’s.  Then do thumb circles up the ascending colon 3x’s. Repeat on transverse colon.  Switch to L foot.  Thumb walk the remaining part of the transverse colon 3x’s.  Then do thumb circles 3x’s.  Do the same for the descending colon.                                          


SMALL:   Using the flat part underneath your knuckle do circular rotations 10x’s each foot.

6. Solar Plexus

Return to the solar plexus points.  Press in and hold for 3-5 seconds.  Repeat 3x’s.  Take a deep breath, and if working on someone else ask them to do the same.
